The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) was established in 1987 with an objective to develop & promote tourism in the province. Tourism industry in Pakistan has experienced various difficulties in finding professionals and skilled persons for its growth. To bridge the gap, TDCP established its academy of tourism in 1988. Two batches of Tourist Guide courses were passed out during 1988-89. The demand from the trade indicates high potential for an Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management planned at a bigger scale to train personnel for the industry. TDCP - Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management is the second institute of its kind in Pakistan. The major objective of institute is to impart vocational and professional knowledge to the personnel attached to this sector. The training programs are designed to cover various levels of executives and workers engaged in this field. These are expected to develop the tourism related activities in their respective organizations. Thereby the corporation will meet one of the objectives of its creation.

Premises
TDCP- Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management is situated at a convenient location in the middle of the city and parallel to the canal. It is furnished and equipped equivalent to the most modem professional institutes of its class having air-conditioned class rooms, library, speech lab with audio- visual aid and a planned computer laboratory.

Presently, TDCP-ITHM is offering the following courses and planning to introduce a unique system of education with emphasis on tourism:

Diploma in Tourism & Hotel Management

Course Design
The Institute offers one year Diploma in Tourism & Hotel Management. The Diploma offers the opportunity of an all-around training in hotel management and tourism services.

Course Objective
The diploma in tourism & Hotel Management aims at developing competent professionals equipped with practical skills and techniques for top class management of tourism and hospitality services. The diploma enables the students to become versatile in various sectors of tourism and hotel industry.

Course Profile
One year program comprises of four (o4) semesters of three (03) months each.

• 04 months for Theoretical Studies.
• 03 months for on job training in renowned hotels travel agencies; research report, final exams.
• 04 study tours.

Air Passenger Tariff and Ticketing Course

The objective is to provide professional competence to the individual desirous to join travel agencies & airlines to perform counter duties and rise therefrom

• Domestic and International Fare Construction
• Outlines of manual and computerized reservation
• Telephone manners
• Computer reservation

APT &T is an intensive course which covers all aspects of the Travel Trade. Number of hours will be divided in the following ways:

Duration : 06 weeks
(Theory: 6 weeks, Intership: 1 week)

Class duration: 1.50 hours
Shift : Morning & Evening

Rules & Regulations

The Institute will introduce the governing rules and regulations from time to time. These will be final and binding on all the participants.

Admission

• Admission will be opened for each course during specific period
• Applications will be made on the prescribed forms, duly supported with academic certificate of minimum education level specified and copy of National Identity Card.
• Fee must be deposited in advance as per notified schedule.
• Deposits later than the scheduled date will be charged with a fine of Rs. 10/- per day.
• No payment over a fortnight will attract deletion of name from the rolls. Results will not be announced and no certificate or diploma will be awarded to such defaulters and fee deposited will be forfeited. Full Fee must be deposited in advance for short course.

Refund
Fee deposited is not refundable. However, in exceptional cases refund may be allowed with the following deductions:

• 10% of the tuition fee (Not installment) within 5 days of commencement of a program.
• 25% of the tuition fee (Not installment) within 10 days of commencement of a program.
• 50% of the tuition fee (Not Installment) within 20 days of commencement of program.
• 100% refund will be allowed if course is not conducted by ITHM due to any reason.
• 100% refund will be allowed if a student will draw himself due to change in schedule of course.
• Fee deposited for short Courses is not refundable in any case.

Attendance

• Every student will ensure regularity and punctuality to the class.
• A minimum of 75% attendance is an essential requirement for the entrance to the examination and award of a certificate or a diploma.

• Course contents, duration and fee can be altered without any prior notice.
• The Institute will assist the students in getting placement in the industry. However, TDCP takes no responsibility to provide any job to the students at any stage.
