The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) was established in 1987 with an objective to develop & promote Tourism in the province.

Tourism industry in Pakistan has experienced various difficulties in finding professionals and skilled persons for its growth. To bridge this gap TDCP established its academy of tourism in 1988. Two batches of Tourist guide courses were passed out during 1988-89. The demand from the trade indicates high potential for an institute of tourism & Hotel Management planned at a bigger scale to train personal for the industry. TDCP-Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management is the second institute of its kind in Pakistan. The major objective of the institute is to impart vocational and professional knowledge to the personal attached to this sector. The training programs are designed to cover various levels of executive and workers engaged in this field. They are expected to develop the tourism-related activities in their respective organizations. Thereby the corporation will meet one of the objectives of its creation.

Importance of Travel & Tourism Industry
The importance of travel and tourism to the global economy has been increased during the past decade. It is now the world's largest industry and a major contributor to global economic development.

Importance of Human Resource Development
Manpower is the core component of tourism sector and its quality and ability is vital for success of the sector. Whilst not the primary factor in Tourism development, manpower is an essential element that determines only quality and ensure success.

Presently- TDCP-ITHM is, offering the following Courses and is planning to introduce a unique system of education with emphasis on Tourism.

Diploma in Tourism & Hotel Management
The institute Offers one year Diploma in Tourism & Hotel Management. The Diploma offers the opportunity of an all-round training in Hotel Management and Tourism Services.

Course Objective
The Diploma in Tourism & Hotel Management aims at developing professionals equipped with practical skills and techniques for top class Management of Tourism and hospitality services. The diploma enables the students to become versatile in various sectors of Tourism and Hotel industry.

Course Profile
One-year program comprises of four semesters of three months each. First three semesters, will be consisting of theoretical study. Fourth semester will be for research report, on job training in renowned hotels, travel agencies. The class notes and practical training will be arranged & provided by institute. The semester program is consists of 300 credit hours.

Class timing (Evening) 05:00 p.m. to 06:30 p.m.
Course Fee Rs.4,500/- at the time of admission

Rules & Regulations
The institute will introduce the governing rules and regulations from time to time. These will be final and binding on all the participants.

Admission
Admission will be opened for each course during specific period. Applications will be made on the -prescribed forms, duly supported with academic certificate of minimum education level specified and copy of national Identity Card. Fee must be deposited in advance as per notified schedule. Depositing dues later than the scheduled dates will be charged with a fine of Rs.10/- per day. No payment over a fortnight will attract deletion of name from the rolls. Result will not be announced and certificate or diploma awarded to such defaulters and fee deposited will be forfeited.
