Sub:           ADOPT A SCHOOL FOR TOURISM

          Since the establishment of The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab Ltd., in 1987, strenuous efforts are being made to promote the tourism among the masses and to provide infrastructure for the promotion of tourism industry in Pakistan.

          In the past by the grace of God Almighty, we have been able to introduce many novel ideas which have been transformed into reality. One such idea conceived was “School Tourism” whose objective was to familiarize our younger generation and tomorrow’s custodian of this country with the concept of tourism by going through the experience in real sense. TDCP takes pride in saying that the concept of School Tourism was not based on any commercial interest rather it is public service and TDCP conducts these tours on no profit and loss basis.

          We now intend to go one step further. Large segment of our society can not afford to travel and to experience the joy and benefits of the exposure while traveling. We own these people. To cater for this class we proudly launch project “Adopt A school for Tourism

Objective
          The objective is to facilitate the brilliant and intelligent students of school belonging to middle and lower strata of society.

          We after an exhaustive home work selected 35 Govt. schools of city of Lahore (in the beginning—list attached). These schools are located in localities where concept of tourism had never been comprehended and appreciated by the inhabitants of these localities.

Implementation Strategy.

     a.      Day excursion to Salt Mines.          Rs.11,880/-
     b.      Day excursion to Kallar Kahar        Rs.12,320/-
     c.      Study tour to Hiran Minar.                Rs.8,800/-
     d.     City tour of Lahore.                          Rs.7,700/-
     e.     Study tour of Rohtas Fort               Rs.11,330/-
     f.      Tour to Capital City of Pakistan      Rs.14,850/-
     A donor in order to sponsor a school would have to pay for the annual package Rs.66,880/- may also tell us the school, he wants to sponsor.

Message
We request to the affluent individual and companies, industrialist, NGO’s to come forward and “Adopt a School” for promotion of tourism for the future builders of this nation which would serve the educational purpose and would go long way for strengthening the foundation of this country.

          This is a novel public service to the people of Pakistan and be one of the benevolent.

Procedure

          Any individual person may select one or more schools from the list attached for adoption.

          He would be accordingly registered, as per registration form (attached).

          The institution would be informed the name of the donor. Rs.66,880/- as a donation would be deposited in the  Current Account No.2423-1 Muslim Commercial Bank, L.D.A Plaza, Egerton Road, Lahore assigned for this purpose. After every conducted tour as proposed above. The donor would be duly informed after authentication from the head of the institution.

          Selection of students i.e. 24 per batch would be made according to the criteria. The best students with good academic record would be selected for this purpose in consultation with the Head of the Institution.

          An individual / company may adopt any school apart from the list attached on the following criteria:-
          (i)      School lies within the limits of Municipal Corporation of                        Lahore.
          (ii)     Schools are being run by Provincial or City District                                Government  and Lahore Municipal Corporation.

          A complete vouched account of the amount spent of every tour would be communicated to the donors to ensure the transparency.

          TDCP is maintaining its tradition of taking up new initiative for the promotion of tourism many in Pakistan and now we seek a sincere and deep hearted support from private sector for this noble cause under the project “Adopted  a School for Tourism”.
